Two shop workers have been left shaken after an armed robbery in Co Tyrone.

Two men, aged between 18 and 20, entered the shop on Main Street in Ardboe shortly after 9.30pm on Friday, armed with a knife and a hammer.

One of the men threatened the workers and demanded they open the till.

The pair made off with a sum of cash and escaped in a car which may have been driven by a third person.

The employees were not injured in the incident.

One of the robbers is described as being of average height, with a long, pale face and long pointed nose. He was wearing a blue and white striped hooded top and black gloves and spoke with a local accent.

The other is described as being around six feet tall, of a skinny build, with a long thin face and dark eyes. He was wearing a red hooded top.

Police in Cookstown have appealed for witnesses to contact them.
