The alert was triggered by the discovery of a suspicious object in the Captain's Road area of Forkhill, close to the border, on Thursday morning.
Three homes were evacuated and a number of roads closed while police and army bomb experts made the area safe.
On Thursday evening, a police spokesman said that the items were taken away for forensic examinations.
Residents have been allowed to return home and all road closures have been lifted.
