The package was reportedly found on board a plane at the airport in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, on Monday evening.

It has been taken away for further examination.

The Killadeas Road was closed between Trory and Laragh during the security alert, which is now over.

"The incident at St Angelo Airport has now ended," a PSNI spokesman said.

"Police inquiries into the incident are ongoing."

Local MLA Tom Elliott expressed his concern over the incident.

"It is very concerning for the entire Northern Ireland community when we learn of more security alerts," the UUP MLA said.

"Many people within the area will obviously be worried about the impact that such disturbance will have in the area and to the community.

"It is important that everyone stays alert and inform the security services of anything suspicious."
