At around 8pm on Wednesday, a man armed with a knife and pepper spray entered the premises in the Bradley way area and demanded money.

He sprayed the aerosol into the woman's face.

It is believed she did not require hospital treatment.

The assailant made off with a sum of cash in the direction of the River Mourne.

This incident follows an armed robbery at a chemist shop in the Beechmount Avenue area on Saturday where pepper spray was also used.

Police have asked anyone with information to contact them in Strabane.

Maybe if pepper spray was legal here (as it is in almost every other country in the world) it would have been the staff member with the pepper spray and not the criminal.
