A second man from Northern Ireland has been arrested by police investigating the death of a man found in a shipping container in England.

The 33-year-old from Londonderry was detained after voluntarily attending a police station in Essex on Wednesday afternoon.

He will be questioned on suspicion of manslaughter and facilitating illegal entry into the UK linked to the investigation into the death of a man found in a container at Tilbury Docks on Saturday.

Meet Singh Kapoor, 40, was one of 35 people, including 15 children, from Afghanistan found in a container at Tilbury docks. Police said the people were victims of people trafficking.

The latest arrest comes after a 34-year-old man from Limavady, Co Londonderry, was detained just after midday on Tuesday on the A1 at Banbridge, Co Down, as part of the same probe.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "The man arrested in NI yesterday is not due to arrive in Essex Police custody until late this evening."
