The woman was closing the premises at the Cogry Road in the Doagh area shortly before 11pm on Thursday when a man approached her and grabbed a bag containing a sum of money.

It is believed he made off from the scene in a silver car.

The female victim, in her 50s, was left badly shaken and received minor facial injuries.

Newtownabbey Sergeant Philip Neill said: "The male is described as being 5"6 tall, wearing a blue-hooded top with either a black or blue scarf covering his face.

"It is believed that the man had a signet ring on his right index finger."

Police are appealing to anyone with any information to contact them in Newtownabbey on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
