Thieves targeted a building used by the gardaí armed division, the Emergency Response Unit (ERU), somewhere in the Republic of Ireland.

A number of items were taken, including a number of flat screen televisions, in the early hours of Monday morning.

Gardaí are unable to issue an appeal for witnesses as the location of the ERU premises has to remain secret for operational reasons.

It is not clear whether the raiders knew who owned the building.

Broke into an armed response unit and just took tvs? Do you really think anyone believes that? Hard to believe a place like that isn't maximum security if I was a betting man my money would be on somebody leaving the window open for them
