Two birds - including a rare Golden Eagle - found dead in rural Co Tyrone were poisoned, police tests have revealed.

The bodies of the eagle and a raven were discovered on the Ballymongan Road in Killeter, close to Castlederg on 1 November last year.

Tests were carried out and the illegal poison carbofuran was revealed to be the cause of death. Police are treating the incident as suspected wildlife crime.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact the police.

Selfish idiots shooting the region's tourist industry in the foot again. After the valiant costly work to get large raptors like the Golden Eagle seen here again. A disgrace, wreckers win again.
