Police investigating child sex allegations against a leading loyalist are to make further enquiries involving other potential victims.

The bail application of 42-year-old Mark Harbinson from Sheepwalk Road, Stoneyford, was adjourned at the last minute.

He strenuously denies all the charges against him, including rape of a 13-year-old girl and possessing indecent images of children.

The bail application was due to be heard via video link with Maghaberry Prison but Harbinson's lawyer said: "We have been informed this morning (Friday), and only this morning, that police wish to make some further inquiries."

A Crown lawyer said: "There are other lines of inquiry relating to other potential victims which police are seeking to investigate."

Mr Justice Weatherup adjourned the application to a date to be fixed.
