There are no babies in these hospitals currently infected with pseudomonas.

The latest test results have been confirmed by the Public Health Agency in a statement on Wednesday.

The PHA said: "As in all neonatal units, steps had already been taken to ensure that babies are not coming into contact with the water supply.

"Only sterile water is being used for direct care of babies and a range of very strict infection control measures are also in place."

There are currently two babies in Craigavon neonatal unit who are colonised i.e. they have Pseudomonas on their skin but are not infected.

No babies in Erne Hospital or Daisy Hill Hospital's neonatal units are colonised.

The infection outbreak was responsible for the deaths of three infants at the Royal Jubilee Maternity Hospital last month.

A baby infected by a different strain of pseudomonas died in Londonderry's Altnagelvin hospital before Christmas.
