Violence broke out close to Carlisle Circus area following a republican parade in the area and bricks, bottles and stones were thrown at police.

The 17-year-old boy was arrested at around 10.15pm at Denmark Street, and taken to hospital by police.

Police Ombudsman investigators are keen to speak to anyone who might have information about how the injuries were sustained.

"We would be particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have recorded video footage of the incident," said a spokesman.

The Ombudsman investigates complaints made against the PSNI, as well as incidents in which police were involved.

This country is a joke - the bottom line is that the boy should not have been at or near the rioting.

Are you takin the absolute P here? Why would anyone want to be a copper in this hole of a country? Damned if you do and damned if you don't! This person gets arrested and has no doubt put a complaint in against the police. What utter BS. Get rid of the parades commission??? Add the police ombudsman to that list! Or better, lets get the ombudsman investigators to do the job of the police if they're so damned perfect and righteous! Yet another thing that makes me sick to the stomach to live in this lunatic asylum called NI. In no other part of the UK or Ireland are the police under as much pressure or vilified by the government in such a way!
