The man has been named by the Northern Ireland Prison Service as Patrick Farren.
The 58-year-old, who was serving a five year sentence, was found in a collapsed state in his cell in the early hours of Tuesday.

His family have been informed.
Prison Service Director General Sue McAllister said: "I would extend my sympathy and that of the Northern Ireland Prison Service to the family of Mr Farren.
