Jaroslaw Andrykiewicz, 38 and who had been living in the Moy area of Dungannon, was believed to have fallen from rocks on Saturday 14 September.
Extensive searches were carried out over a number of weeks, but had to be called off after failing to find the man's body.
Members of the fisherman's distraught family had travelled to Northern Ireland from Poland following the news.
On Friday, a body of a man was found on a beach in Carlough.
Police have now confirmed that the man has been identified as Mr Andrykiewicz.
"Police would like to offer their sympathies to the family and friends of Mr Andrykiewicz," a spokesman said.
