Detectives searching for Caroline's body say they want whoever provided them with the new information to contact them, as some details need clarification.
The officer leading the investigation, Detective Chief Inspector Gary Crawford, said: "We are grateful to this person for providing information but we need to clarify some details.
"I can assure the person who took the trouble to send us the map that we will deal with them and their information in absolute confidence. The number to call is 07585 228283."
The teenager was living in nearby Hanover Street with her boyfriend when she disappeared.
A number of searches on waste ground and in premises in the Carleton Street area have been carried out in recent weeks.
Search activity is currently suspended.
