Lorcan Halton was spotted taking a boat from Cairnryan to Belfast on 9 January.

The 45-year-old has been at the centre of an "extensive" manhunt since failing to turn up for a court appearance on 15 January. Efforts to find him have thus far been unsuccessful.

Police in Scotland have now appealed for help from the public.

Detective Inspector Craig Willison said: "Mr Halton was due to attend court on 15/01/2014 but failed to appear and has not been seen since, although further enquiries revealed a sighting of him in Cairnryan on Thursday 9 January 2014 where he was boarding a ferry bound for Belfast.

"I would advise that no one approaches him, but rather contact police immediately."

Mr Halton, who is from the Saracen area of Glasgow, has been described as white, 6ft in height and of medium build with brown hair, with a distinctive scar on his right arm.

When he was last seen he was wearing dark-coloured jeans and shirt.

Detective Inspector Willison continued: "I would ask anyone who has seen Mr Halton, or who has any information regarding his whereabouts to contact Police Scotland."

Anyone with information has been asked to call 101 and ask for Police Scotland.
