A 25-year-old man was arrested after the vehicle with the precious cargo was hijacked in west Belfast.

The driver of the van was threatened with a knife when the vehicle was hijacked just before 11am on Saturday on Carrigart Avenue.

It is understood that the Royal Mail van was driven towards Shaw's Road and Lenadoon Avenue where it was then crashed into the railings and wall of a house.

There were no reports of any injuries in the crash.

Police have appealed for anyone who might have witnessed the hijacking to come forward and assist them with their inquiries.

Thats was so thoughtful of police to go the extra step and deliver those to kids and families waiting - so much of what the police do is outside of their job description and always considers the needs of the public - well done.

Wonder if the children don't get the results they wish for, will the Police get the blame???!
