Plane crash lands in Ards hedge

A light aircraft has come down in playing fields in Co Down, amid poor weather conditions across parts of Northern Ireland.

Police confirmed that the plane had to make an "emergency landing" on Thursday afternoon.

It ended up nose-first in a hedge at the playing fields in the Dairy Hall area.

According to the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, there were two people on board - the pilot and one passenger. They are not thought to have sustained serious injuries.

A spokesperson on Twitter said that both "walked from the plane and are being assessed".
