Pipe bomb attack on grandmother's home

A grandmother, whose Holywood home was the target of a pipe bomb attack, has told UTV she won't be forced out.

Police responded to reports of a loud bang in the Church Green area after a pipe bomb partially exploded after midnight on Tuesday.No one was injured and there was no damage caused to the property.Police and army bomb experts attended the scene and examined the area while the device was taken away for further forensic examinations.The homeowner has told UTV this was the latest attack on her home.She said she would not be intimidated out.Grandmother of one Linda Martin said: "I am gutted this has happened again."I can't believe there are people who would stoop so low, there are children living in the houses beside me."If this had of gone off then who knows the damage it would have caused?"She added: "I've had four cars destroyed, windows smashed, paint bombs thrown at the house, men come through the doors with hammers."This is a new low and those responsible are scum, they are cowards and I just wish they would come and say to my face what their problem is."But I won't leave, I have done nothing wrong and I am not moving."I have children here and I won't leave my home."This was a reckless and indiscriminate act and this could have easily been a murder scene.Alex Easton MLANorth Down MLA Alex Easton has condemned the attack.He said: "Those involved clearly had no regard for humanity or the hurt they could have caused."Church Green is a quiet area with a lot of children living and playing in the vicinity."This incident could have easily hurt or killed an innocent child. The residents of Loughview do not want this activity."Those involved need to wise up before someone is killed," said the DUP representative.Alliance councillor Andrew Muir said he was shocked by the attack, adding: "Somebody could have been seriously injured or worse."There can be no justification for this attack.
