Detectives investigating the 500lb bomb found in a van abandoned in Newry earlier this month have released the picture of a car which they believe may have been used in the attack.

The blue Ford Fiesta, registration number GCZ 7682, was last seen on the day the van was abandoned under the A1 Dublin Road at Newry on Thursday 7 April.

Detectives are also keen to speak to people who were in the area of Patrick Street in the city at around 10.30pm that same night.

They are particularly keen to identify a man using the phonebox outside the Eastern Campus of the South Eastern Regional College.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of the car and the identity of the man is asked to call the incident room on 028 9056 1912.

Information can be also given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
