Pharmacist injured in pepper spray attack

A pharmacist has been sprayed in the face in a Strabane chemist shop by a man armed with a pepper spray during a robbery.

It happened at Beechmount Avenue on Saturday at 5.35pm.

The injured man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment to his injuries.

It is not known at this stage if anything was taken during the incident.

SDLP Strabane councillor Patsy Kelly condemned the robbery.

He said: "I was appalled to hear this had happened. It must have been a frightening ordeal for the staff involved.

"This is not just an attack on a local facility, but it is also an attack on the Strabane community, and I would urge anyone with information to contact police immediately."

Police are appealing for anyone with information on the attack to come forward.
