Eric Irvine was on his way to the family's saw mill business in Trillick when he lost control of the bike.

Mr Irvine, who is in his 70s, died in hospital on Thursday.

Local UUP Councillor Bert Wilson's son to married to Mr Irvine's daughter. He explained how the accident happened.

"He obviously was getting on the quad and something must have pushed the throttle and she really went out from under him, and he fell and hit his head on the concrete at the back of the house," he told UTV.

"He would have been very much involved in the business. He was always there. No matter when you went up he was either in the office or out with some of the men out at the saw mill.

"He had a kind word and a joke for everybody. He would have been known far and wide. He will be sadly missed and the family are really shattered. They're shocked that this has happened so suddenly."
