Four men, one armed with a screwdriver, threatened the family at the Laurelhill Road property at around 9.30pm.

The family - a man and woman in their 50s, a woman in her 20s and a teenage boy - were not injured. However, the older woman was treated for shock.

A number of items, including money and jewellery, were stolen.

Detectives are investigating a link between the burglary and an aggravated burglary in the Glenavy Road area of Lisburn a number of hours later.

A pensioner was asleep in bed when he awoke to find two armed men in his room at around 1am on Saturday.

Both had a suspected firearm.

The man, who is in his 70s, was tied up and locked in a room.

The intruders are believed to have made off without taking anything.

A police statement said: "Although not injured, the resident required medical treatment as he was left very shaken."

Police are appealing to anyone who has any information about the break-ins to contact them.
