Police say Kieran Feeney, who was from the Foyle area, was struck on the Glenshane Road close to the junction of the Drumahoe Road at around 1.50am.

They have appealed for anyone who witnessed the fatal collision or anyone who was travelling on the Glenshane Road at the time to contact them.

Detectives in Derry also want to hear from anyone who saw a young man wearing a grey hooded top and blue jeans walking along the footpath or road.

The Glenshane Road is closed between Church Brae and Millbrook Park at this time.
