A 26-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after a being struck by a car in Londonderry.

The pedestrian was hit by a green Saab car on the Victoria Road in the city at around 2.40am on Sunday.

Anyone who witnessed the collision on the Victoria Road at the junction of Prehen Park is asked to contact the PSNI.

The man was taken to Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast where he remains in a critical condition.
