Army bomb squad officers were called to the Glebeview Park area of the Co Londonderry village following reports of a suspicious object on Tuesday afternoon.

A police spokesperson said: "At this stage, police believe the object may have been left near a house in the area. Enquiries are continuing."

The item, which had partly exploded, has now been removed for forensic testing.

Anyone who has further information about the discovery has been asked to contact the PSNI at Coleraine on 0845 600 8000.
