Paramedic attacked at Antrim Area Hospital
A paramedic has had clumps of hair pulled from her head during an attack at Antrim Area Hospital on Sunday.

She was assaulted in the hospital's A&E department as she helped another ambulance crew with a patient believed to be intoxicated.

The paramedic was left shocked and distressed following the attack and had to step down from her shift.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident a vital piece of communications equipment was stolen from an A&E vehicle as it was parked outside a house in the Glasmullin Gardens area of Belfast, while the crew were treating a patient.

In a statement the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said that they find attacks on their crew "totally unacceptable".

"Staff only seek to help those who are in most need of our services."
