Both people, in their 20s and 30s respectively, were treated for the effects of breathing in smoke.
They were found by firefighters who were called to the blaze at a house in the Duke Street area, at about 3am on Saturday.
"The Fire Service has again shown their commitment to the local community," Sinn Féin MLA Caitríona Ruane said.
"I am relieved that no one was seriously injured and would like to pay tribute to all those involved on the rescue."
Police are appealing for information about how the fire may have started.
