The body of Eamonn Ferguson, 35, was found just before 3am in a flat at Ardoyne Place in the city which was the home of Louis Maguire, one of the men accused of his murder.

Maguire, 26, and Christopher Power, 31, appeared before the city's Magistrates' Court on Wednesday jointly charged with his murder.

Both Maguire and Power, who is from Co Offaly and has no fixed address, deny involvement in the killing.

A detective inspector said that he believed he could connect the pair to the charge. Neither applied for bail.

Louis Maguire's solicitor said that he could not face going back to the flat where he lived and where his friend was killed.

They will appear before the court again via videolink on 16 April.

Meanwhile police have issued an appeal over a jacket they would like to trace as part of the murder investigation.
