Pair released over hijacking

Two men arrested in connection with an attempted hijacking in Londonderry have been released without charge.

The men, aged 18 and 27, were arrested following reports of an incident in the Cairnhill area of the city on Saturday morning.

A small crossbow was also found during a search of a house in the city.

Both men were arrested on suspicion of attempted hijacking, criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon and assault on police.

On Sunday morning police released the 18 year old pending further inquiries while the 27 year old, is to be reported to the Public Prosecutuion Service on suspicion of criminal damage.
