The pair, both aged 26, were detained in north Belfast on Friday morning and taken to Antrim Serious Crime Suite for questioning.

Ten shots from the military grade weapon hit two police cars which were towing digital signs through a residential area at the Ardoyne interface at around 7.10pm on Thursday, 5 December.

No police officers or members of the public were harmed.

Dissident republicans were blamed for the murder bid.

The pair were released without charge on Friday night, following a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
