Hugh Kelly, 44, and Anthony Davidson, 23, are both charged with aggravated burglary and attempted false imprisonment.

The pair are also jointly accused of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and attempted blackmail.

The alleged offences relate to an incident at a house in the Andersonstown area on Tuesday morning.

Kelly, of Carlisle Road, and Davidson, from Oceanic Avenue - both in Belfast - refused to stand during an appearance before the city's Magistrates' Court.

A police officer said he could connect both of them to the alleged offences.

No details of the incident were disclosed and neither accused applied for bail.

A defence lawyer told the court: "While these are very serious matters the case itself isn't the most complicated in terms of the factual matrix."

Kelly and Davidson were each remanded in custody to appear again by video link in four weeks.
