Shortly before 6.45pm, a two vehicle crash took place M1 Westbound.

While attending the scene, the police vehicle was then involved in a collision with another two vehicles at the Broadway underpass, close to the Westlink, which resulted in an adult and child being injured.

Ambulance crews were called to the scene and the two patients were taken away, one to the Royal Victoria Hospital and one to the Children's Hospital.

Their conditions are not known at this stage.

The Westlink was closed between Grosvenor Road and Broadway Westbound for a time but was later re-opened.

How ironic, PSNI release public statements on how there is a traffic safety emergency and that people should be more careful on the roads, reduce speed, yada yada.. Boom, the police get caught up in M1 crash.. Joke aside, hope all parties make a full recovery
