PSNI hurt in high speed crash

Four police officers have been injured in a high speed chase across Belfast.

The driver of a Volkswagen Golf accelerated to up to 100mph on the Westlink after failing to stop for PSNI early on Thursday morning.

The driver exited the Westlink at Divis Street where the Golf crashed into two police vehicles.

Four police officers were hurt but their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Three men in their 20s were arrested on suspicion of burglary and motoring offences.

They have been bailed pending further police inquiries.

Sean - so using your flawed logic, a fireman injured trying to rescue some kids from a house fire shouldnt be entitled to claim, or a nurse assaulted by a violent drunken thug shouldn't be able to claim because they should just expect to be treated like a doormat in their job? Seriously, get a grip, not only should a police officer injured by a joyrider get compensation, the criminal at fault should be forced to pay a hefty portion of it. That would save some of your "hard earned" pennies then?

The men and women of the PSNI are every bit as entitled to compensation for work related injury as anyone else.They work in dangerous situations to keep ALL of us safer.Thank goodness we have people who are willing to do the job regardless of the personal threat that hangs over them by people who want to see us dragged back to mayhem.=====So IF these injured officers are due compensation then so be it.

Sean and T Bone, i think you need to think again as the police are there because you, and if not you cause your too young bit your parents voted to have peace in this fair land and the police are an intricate part of that. A lot of people are happy to have the police call when they want their help but when they are after you when you do something wrong then they are the worst in the world. See to be honest, on my own opinion, the ruc/psni shoudn't be aloud to claim becuase its there job and they should expect to be in collisions weather it be the ruc/psni ramming into them or them ramming into the ruc/psni because as T.Bone in belfast noted there, it is getting took out of our tax payers money also my money that i work hard for, it really isnt fare.
