Baby Hamilton - whose Omagh mum Shirley is fighting for life in London
The Omagh community is rallying around a new mum who is battling for her life in a London hospital, after contracting swine flu.

Shirley Hamilton, 36, became ill just days after giving birth.

She is now in a serious but stable condition at Royal Brompton Hospital in London.

Her baby boy is being cared for in the neo-natal unit at the Erne Hospital in Enniskillen.

Local GP and councillor Jo Deehan said the family needed the community's support.

"It's been an exceptionally difficult time for the Hamilton family and Shirley's partner and her two daughters", she said.

"They clearly want to be with her in London, but then there's the issue of the baby who remains in hospital and they want to support them both.

"It is very difficult for them, the trauma of not knowing what the outcome will be for Shirley, the exhaustion of the travelling, the expense of it - and I'm very pleased the community has rallied round to try to raise some funds for them," she added.
