Emergency services attended the scene at Sunnyside Street, opposite the Errigle pub, on Thursday afternoon.

They were alerted after a report of fumes in the area.

It is suspected that the oil came off a tanker, but details are unclear at this stage.

Vehicles were not permitted to enter Sunnyside Street from the Ormeau Road while the incident was dealt with, but the area has since reopened to traffic.
