A suspicious object was found in Dunraven Avenue shortly after 11pm on Saturday.

"After an examination by Army Technical Officers, the object was declared to be harmless," a PSNI spokesman said.

The road was closed between Bloomfield Road and Grace Avenue for a time.

Residents in nearby homes, who were evacuated during the operation, were allowed to return at around 1.30am on Sunday.

There are no further details.
