A security alert which resulted in homes being evacuated in north Belfast has ended.

Ten families were evacuated from their homes in north Belfast because of a security alert on Thursday night.

Army bomb experts were called to the scene to examine the object, which was later described as a crude hoax.

The Oldpark Road was closed between Rosapenna Street and Churchview Court after a suspicious object was found shortly before 8pm close to Ardoyne Avenue.
