Nine dissident arrests in Co Limerick

Nine men have been arrested in the Republic of Ireland in connection with dissident republican activity.

The men, aged from their 30s to 50s, were detained following a number of searches in Limerick city and county on Monday morning.
Garda said four were arrested in the Henry Street area, two in Roxboro Road and one each in Mayorstone, Newcastle West and Askeaton.
They can be held for seven days under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended.
No guns were seized as a result of the operation.
