They have all been charged with disorderly behaviour and provocative conduct.

The Battle of the Somme parade took place on Tuesday, 1 July in the Co Londonderry town, however, trouble broke out in areas.

Operation Chimera was set up by the PSNI in a bid to identify individuals they believed to be involved in offences in Somerset Drive, Pates Lane and Killowen Street.

The operation began on Monday morning following a number of weeks of planning and co-ordination, a PSNI statement said.

Six people were arrested on the first day of the operation. Prior to that, eight people were detained, some of whom have appeared before court.

A police statement said: "More arrests are expected to follow but police are keen that anyone with information in relation to the disorder, which centred on the Pates Lane area during the evening of 01 July, continues to contact police on the 101 number.

"Or, information can be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

All nine will appear in Coleraine Magistrates' Court later this month.
