Police received a report at 8.10pm on Thursday that the mob had smashed windows and a door to break into the house in the Ashgrove area of the town.
A council worker, his pregnant wife and four-year old daughter, who were in the house, escaped unharmed. They managed to take refuge in a local alleyway.
The victim said the attack, which is thought to have been carried out by paramilitaries, relate to an earlier incident in July.
He says he may now be forced from his home.
Nine men, aged between 21 and 48, were arrested in connection with the incident a few hours later.
They are all currently assisting police with their inquiries.
The Mayor of Antrim, DUP Councillor Roy Thompson said: "Following the arrest of nine men in connection with an attack, I would like to commend the PSNI on their quick action."
