Low-cost operator Wizz Air will start the twice-weekly service next month.

It brings to nine the number of new routes secured by the airport this year, and follows plans for a flight between Belfast International and Vilnius in Lithuania, starting next April.

József Váradi, Wizz CEO, welcomed Tuesday's announcement.

He said: "We are highly committed to continuing to bring more of our low fares and optional services to best meet the needs of the Polish traveling public."

The flights to Katowice will run from 31 March.

I've been to poland a number of times and we should take a leaf from their book.there might not be much money or jobs but their community spirt and the ability to live with almost nothing compared to us really shines through.I would advise people to visit for different look on our own lives it would put in perspective the silly tribal problems we have in this country.

Great news the schools should take children over there to see Auschwitz and let them see what hatred creates in society might help heal this country

Might have a wee zip over myself. My brother went to Poland a few years back and loved it. He went to Auschwitz and said it was the most humbling experience in his life, to see people openly weep at the gates of the place. An experience for all to share I dare say.
