Nothing untoward was found in Broadlands Gardens on Monday afternoon.

Between 20 and 30 local residents were moved to a nearby leisure centre for a while as army bomb squad officers carried out an investigation in the Co Antrim town.

Police said: "The security alert in the Broadlands Gardens area has now ended. Nothing untoward was found and residents have been allowed to return to their homes."

It comes after two suspicious objects were discovered in the same area on Sunday. A number of controlled explosions were carried out and the objects were found to be elaborate hoaxes.

Police said the latest alert was separate and not a follow-up to the previous operation.
