Vincent Kelly was the driver of one of the vehicles which collided on the Lisnevenagh Road near Rosses Factory at around 1.25pm on Tuesday.

Mr Kelly, also known as 'Vinto', was from the Omagh area.

Local MLA Joe Byrne has expressed his condolences.

"This is a terrible tragedy and my heart goes out to the deceased's family and friends," the SDLP representative said.

"Vincent was a good, gentle soul with a great love of showbands and Man United.

"He was a well-known roadie with the Irish showbands working out of Omagh in the 1960s and had a wonderful sense of fun. He will be sorely missed."

Police said the man who was the driver of the other car remains in hospital receiving treatment on injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

Officers have appealed for anyone who witnessed the crash, which involved a red Peugeot 205 and a grey Suzuki Grand Vitara, to pass on information.
