Police have launched a murder inquiry after a 15-month-old girl who was injured in an alleged assault died in hospital.
The baby girl was under intensive care at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast after being hurt in Enniskillen.
The incident is understood to have taken place in the Glebe Park area of the Co Fermanagh town.
Police said they were notified about the alleged attack on Thursday night.
A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is assisting with enquiries.
Detectives from the PSNI's serious crime unit are involved and searched a house at Glebe Park.
Local SDLP MLA Tommy Gallagher said: "There is a great sense of shock and anger about this. The whole thing is playing out very badly."
Earlier on Friday, an ambulance service spokesman confirmed the toddler had been transferred from Erne Hospital in Enniskillen to Belfast Children's Hospital at 10.45pm on Thursday night.
A spokesperson for the Western Health and Social Care Trust said they were currently assisting the PSNI with their enquiries.
UTV have asked the Western Trust if the baby girl had previously been under its care. But the Trust refused to make any further comment.
Glebe Park is a residential area of the lakeside town on the road to Tempo.
Police are appealing for witnesses who may have noticed anything in the area between 7.30pm and 8.30pm on Thursday night to contact them.
