The incident happened on Thursday afternoon and police say the road will remain closed for a significant period of time.

The road, the A37 Broad Road - but commonly referred to as the Mountain Road - has been closed on the Limavady side, at its junction with the Rathmore Road.

There are no further details at this stage.

The Gateside Road in Coleraine is also closed following a two vehicle collision which occurred at around 6.10pm.

A man and a woman in their 20s have been taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Diversions are in place at the junction with Islandtasserty Road while debris is cleared from the area.
