The animals, which were privately owned at a home in the Knocksticken Road area of Clough, Downpatrick, were found on Thursday morning close to where they went missing last Friday.

"The owner would like to thank everyone who had spent time looking for them," a PSNI spokesperson said.

The owner told UTV the marsupial, which had the joey in its pouch, had become trapped between a wall-space and a tank adjacent to their grounds.

He added his family was "sad but relieved the search is over".
