Scott Vineer, who is 17 and from Lisburn, was discovered at the World of Furniture site close to the Lagan towpath shortly after 10pm on Friday night.

Police have been looking for him since he went missing earlier this week.

He was taken by ambulance to hospital where he is being treated for serious head injuries.

Detectives are now working to establish how the teenager came to be injured.

He was last seen when he left his college in Lisburn shortly before 3pm on Thursday and has been described as 6ft 3inches tall, heavy build, clean shaven with short dark hair.

He was wearing a dark hooded jacket with a blue t-shirt underneath, dark trousers and a dark beanie hat with an emblem on the front.

Anyone with more information has been asked to come forward by calling 0845 600 8000, or passing on details anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

i can't believe that this has happened to this young chap, i am utterly disgusted to say the least. what that poor family have to deal with, its bad enough that he was missing but then to be informed that his body was found and in such bad condition. this family are in my prayers and i trust that all the pieces are pieced together and the culprits are brought to justice, and not only a slap on the wrist. The courts need to be offering punishments fit for the degree of the crime
