Two men, arrested following a racist assault in Belfast have been released by police pending further investigation.

A 45-year-old man, while working on a stall on Royal Avenue, sustained minor injuries when he was attacked on Wednesday evening.

He was verbally abused before two men beat him.

Police detained two men, aged 18 and 25, at the scene following the incident.

They were released by police on Thursday, pending further enquiries, a spokeswoman said.
