Tomasz Wnek, a 38-year-old Pole, was charged with trying to rape their alleged victim and two charges of sexually assaulting the woman.

Sudanese man Ishak Dokkan, 24, was also charged with two counts of sexually assaulting her on the same date.

The men appeared in court flanked by interpreters.

The incident happened at a property in the Donegall Street area of the city in the early hours of Tuesday.

A detective sergeant told the court he believed he could connect the pair, who both have an address at Centenary House on Victory Street in Belfast, to each of the charges.

No bail application was lodged, District Judge George Conner remanded the accused into custody until Thursday 10 January.
