The victim was walking by himself in the area of Lamont Park playing fields last Friday at 3pm when he was attacked by three men, who were not known to him.

He was also subject to sectarian insults.

The injured man made his way to the carpark and dialled 999 for help. He was taken to hospital by ambulance and was treated for fractures to both sides of his jaw.

The three attackers are described as speaking with local accents.

One is described as having blonde hair shaved both sides and flat on top. He is of medium build, 5ft 11inches in height and was wearing a Liverpool top.

The second also has fair hair, shaved on the sides and flat on top. He is of medium build, 5ft 11inches in height and was wearing a light blue t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms.

The third man is tallest of the three at around 6ft in height. He has brown hair which is also short at the sides and flat at the top.

Police are appealing for anyone who noticed the men in the Larmont Park, or who witnessed the assault, to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.

How brave of the three of them to assault one lone person. Just highlights how cowardly they really are.
